This Bachelor of Business degree program adds to the spcialist hospitality management education delivered by BMIHMS. This is a degree for individuals’ passionate about food and wine, and particularly those striving to build a management career in an area they adore. The science and planning behind managing successful food and beverage establishments does not come without challenges and often has a lot at stake. BMIHMS will prepare you to become a leader in the restaurant and catering industry. You will study a Bachelor of Business degree specialising in Restaurant and Catering Management, providing you with a business qualification with the added benefit of skills and knowledge specific to the hospitality sector.

There are many opportunities within this sector in a range of food and beverage outlets, through branding, finance and revenue, food service operations, restaurants, bars, entertainment facilities and venue management. This is a comprehensive field of study with many career paths, which will excite you.

You will initially be based at our Leura campus, which operates as a simulated hotel environment, where students are both guest and staff. This provides undergraduate restaurant and catering management students with the unique opportunity to put theoretical knowledge into practice. From food and beverage management, advanced beverage and wine knowledge, restaurant and catering models to design and facilities. Students gain hands-on experience in all aspects of day-to-day operations.

Industry Placements

The Industry Placement (IP) provides students with the opportunity to analyse and reflect upon the relationship between their academic studies and the workplace environment, combining professional experiences within their degree. The first placement will have a food and beverage focus in conjunction with your first term’s learning. For the second placement students should strive for a placement within a restaurant and/or catering environment.

Career Opportunities

When your degree is strongly based in the hospitality industry your career prospects are endless. Doors will be open to you in a wide area of restaurant and catering establishments in ownership or management, on a local or international stage. You will develop an edge in culinary management, with expertise enabling you to; operate as a food and beverage director, open and manage your own restaurant or event and catering company, work in banquets and conventions or even start your own franchise.

Double Degree at Blue Mountains

Once a student has completed a Bachelor of Business degree they can also attain a second Undergraduate degree in either (International Event Management) or (International Hotel and Resort Management) with just an additional 5 units of study (12 to 24 weeks)
